Its been a while since I checked in on WW Wednesday. Mostly because I have been burned out with WW and all of the changes going on around me. It was difficult for me to stick to the plan. And the plan is SO easy and fool proof. I couldn’t do it. I finally cancelled my WW in July. And don’t worry WW, it’s not you. It’s me. I couldn’t get my mojo back. I needed a change. I needed to try something different. I needed a lifestyle overhaul. I needed to ease back into exercise. I needed a lot.

Back in August, I started to make some small changes. Naren had started Keto back in July. I did it for about 10 days with him after our July 4th trip to Disney. Clearly, my detox from sugar and bread was rough. By day 11, I would have fought someone for a piece of bread. Instead, I just ate a Hops Spicy Goat in all her glory. Life was happy again, least for my sugar addiction.

As I have gotten older, I’ve noticed that sugar really isn’t my friend. Sugar seems to be the enemy of my GI tract. Sure, it tastes awesome on the front end, but somewhere in the middle it wreaks havoc on my insides. My insides revolt and in just a few short hours I have GI distress that can last for several more hours, if not a day or two. I know…..TMI. Seriously, though, as someone who has lived on sugar her whole life, this is kind of devastating to have to give up my drug of choice. About mid-August, I realized I didn’t want to live like this anymore. By this time, Naren’s lost 25 pounds on Keto. I know he is a man and he will lose it fast, but he is also sleeping better. He feels better, and some of the things that he’s always had issues with are clearing up.

Cue the giant light bulb. I needed something that will help me get over the sugar and help release all the toxins and it was right there. I didn’t like the side effects, so I gave up too easily. Yet, I needed this detox badly. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Over the Labor Day weekend, I was down and out with a cold. I only left the house once because I needed groceries. I didn’t eat much, but what I wanted to eat was healthy. I made the commitment to try Keto. To really stick to it through the detox phase. Can I tell you last week was like one long headache? After three days, though, I wasn’t craving snacks unless I was actually hungry. I was also supplementing my detox with Plexus Triplex. I had started this back in August and was enjoying the detox and supplements of good probiotics. Honestly, I think this is what kept my symptoms at bay this time. I also think the BioCleanse helped get rid of the toxic mess faster. If you’d like to check out Plexus, visit here. Yes, it’s an MLM. Yes, I signed up as an ambassador months ago. Am I “selling” it to you? No. I’m only offering out what I have tried and my results. Feel free to message me questions. Happy to answer honestly. My personal view when I signed up was, get the best discount. I also got a free code from my friend, so I didn’t pay the yearly fee. I also thought, I’ve spent money on other diets and pills and fads, so what can it hurt to give it a try for three months?

So after the first week, I’m down five pounds. I’m sure a lot of sugar and fluid from the inflammation from sugar and refined foods. I feel good and I’m starting to meal plan even more, as well as trying out intermittent fasting. I’m not crazy about it thus far, but I think it will get better as my body cleans out the crap. Oh, and one more thing, I gave up alcohol for the time being. This may be temporary or it may be for good. Either way, my gut is happier than it’s been in a long time.

I’m also using this fabulous (and free) app on my phone called Carb Manager. Determine what your diet goal is. Do you want to ease into it or jump all-in? Enter it all into the app, link your exercise (step) tracker and you are off to the races. It even has a scanner for easy adds. Below you can see my day last Saturday vs. my goal. I’m still adjusting and figuring out the best way to reach my goals, but this is at least putting in perspective. I love this app.

Anyone out there have any tips and tricks for getting off sugar and how I can still have my sweet fix? It does happen! Oh, and I almost forgot. I am halfway through my 30 free trial of Thrive Market delivery service. I have already placed three orders. Seriously, we all know I’m keeping this subscription, right? You can try it out, too. Use my referral code for 25% off your first order. The prices are already great, so what do you have to lose? Nothing. Here’s the code. My favorite thing is you can shop by diet! So no matter what your goal is, you can eat healthier and organic while meeting your goals.

They deliver nationwide but also have a limited selection of adult and children’s food in our High Point Wal-marts. They also have an on-going blog about farm to table and sustainable sourcing for food. Check them out online at The Good Kitchen.
