Art. Design. Fashion. Food. I love it all. I am an artist, yoga instructor, Reiki practioner, and wellness life coach. All of my life, I’ve struggled to find my calling. I always felt like there was more to life waiting for me out there. BUT out WHERE?!?!
I’m a self-taught artist based in High Point, North Carolina. My passion for creativity and design runs deep. I love bright colors, patterns, and textures, especially in interiors and architecture. In addition to my love of English Lit classes, my favorite courses during my Interior Design days at East Carolina were historic interiors and the creative labs where we would focus on color theory.
I found myself searching for more and decided to become a yoga instructor. Not necessarily for teaching but for my own mental health and self awareness. That lead to studying Reiki — Life Force Energy work. I am a certified Level 2 practitioner working toward my master certification. I am also a certified Life Coach focusing on helping creatives get unstuck and get the hell out of their own way!
Social media? Count me in. I’ve always been social, but social media just took that to another level. I’m organized. I like to make lists and then check off those lists. I like to doodle and color. Did you know coloring is a form of art therapy? I recently created a coloring journal and an adult coloring book–BOTH will be available in July 2022. I also like to paint with acrylics and watercolors. I love to write. I volunteer. I give back whether with my time or my money. I just like helping people.
I’m direct. I stand in my truth. I tell it like it is. I don’t care if you like me or not. Life is too short to worry about why someone doesn’t like me. I have several close friends and a million acquaintances. I love them all.
I’m an early to bed and early to rise kind of person. I’m a homebody but love a fun outing or trip with family and friends. You know when you hear a song that makes you so happy it transports you back to a time in your life when you felt happy and free? My childhood is that place and music is that time machine. I am often inspired by things from my childhood, but more than anything, the soundtrack of my life. I was introduced to music at a young age through my uncles. From the Beatles to the Beach Boys to the Bee Gees to Motown, and everything in between. I listened to it all and was immediately excited by it. Whether it was girls on the beach, Barbara Ann, Lovely Rite, or a long cool woman in a black dress…..music made my heart sing from a very young age.
Music is a constant in my life and almost always playing in the background of my day–yes, all day at work and always while I am creating in my studio. I love all genres and each has a special influence on me. Music and specific memories of my childhood definitely inspire my work. My artwork celebrates the good ol’ days and encourages others to remember when…. You know, back when life was a little easier and a lot more fun!
I’m married to an incredible man who has taught me how to laugh at myself and have a lot of fun while doing it. He speaks to my inner child and we spend all of our vacations in Orlando. Specifically, Walt Disney World where we are annual passholders. It’s been many years and I’ve yet to tire of it. I only dream about returning one day to never come back! I have two amazing step sons and two wacky dogs and together, we are a family.
I’ve got original art and prints available on my Etsy shop. I am currently taking commissions. Please contact me directly via email with any questions: firstname.lastname@example.org.
