I received word yesterday that one of my three submissions made it into the local art exhibit. Needless to say, I am thrilled to be part of the hometown show that kicks off the High Point Cycling Classic weekend. Be sure to read to the end for details on the opening reception. This is my first juried show and I am grateful for the opportunity and excited to grow as an artist.
I’m not surprised at the chosen piece. Watercolors are my main medium and the two that didn’t make it were entirely outside of my comfort zone as an artist. That said, I will keep on painting outside of my comfort zone and pushing myself. The Queen of the Road also looks great in my studio…..oh, how I hate to part with my own work…..yet, I cannot keep it all.
I have several works in my mind that I hope to work on this week. I’m also still practicing my dog portraits. Slowly but surely I’ll find what works here, but I am loving the palette knife painting (and must give a shout out to DB Grove Art for the encouragement on using the palette knife–Thank you, Debbie! Follow her on Instagram @DBGroveArt).
Be sure to join me for the opening reception on Thursday, September 6, 5:30 until 7:30 pm. We will have wine, beer, light hors d’ouvres and music. This is a free event and open to the public. It will be a great evening and I hope to see lots of friends and family in attendance!
The exhibit will Run from August 30 – September 28.
Hope to see you there!
