Do You Believe in Angels

When I first started down this path of enlightenment. I call it that because, truly, it’s what it is. Growing up in the United Methodist Church, I had been on many retreats and church camps and had seen things that I felt were absolutely divine intervention. Well, maybe not intervention, but were not easily explained. Spiritual experiences that solidified my relationship with God.

As I started to pull together things for this blog, I found myself asking if there had been any angelic intervention throughout my life. My body signals (full body chills) tell me yes. After working on my connections for the the last 25 years, I know I have a team of angels (and guides) working to keep me safe and guide me in the right direction. I call on them often, especially when travelling to keep me (and anyone else with me) safe.

When I was a kid, I’d say I was around 7 or 8, my grandfather, Bob or Boop as we called him, was finishing up the pristine brick walkway around the side of the house. The bricks were down, but the landscaping was in progress. Back then, he was using railroad ties as the edging material. The ties were stacked and layered to give a stairstep pyramid appearance. And as kids do, we all challenged each other to see who could get to the top. As the only girl in a sea of boy cousins at this point (my sisters would have been toddlers), I had no trouble keeping up with the boys. I accepted the challenge. As I was climbing the railroad tie pyramid, I lost my balance and fell backwards. Once I started falling, I felt that familiar “falling” feeling.  We have all felt that same feeling at some point when falling asleep—we feel like we are falling.  I truly believe that feeling is when our souls are escaping the body to do other work or lessen the pain of the initial event. I don’t remember anything after that because maybe I fainted from fear or when I hit my head, I was knocked out.

I woke up on the scratchy sofa in the den of my grandparents’ house. Ice on my head and my back. I’m not really sure if i hit my head and was knocked out or if I fainted. I do know that I had a goose egg on my head and bruises where my back hit the corner of each step on that pyramid all the way down my little back. It wasn’t until now that I began to wonder if I was assisted by my angels that day. It would seem that kind of fall would cause more damage than it did. For now, I think I will believe there was some kind of divine intervention.

One other event that stood out to me involved my angels keeping me safe while traveling. I can look back now and see when a delay in traveling in the mid 90’s kept me safe and alive. I was going to visit an old friend and hang out in Raleigh. I was working at Rose Furniture at the time and I was leaving from work. I was halfway out the door the minute the clock struck 5, but little did I know as I hopped in the car, I had forgotten something. I had to go back to retrieve whatever I left behind. I honestly can’t remember, but I think it was my purse or my wallet. Something I needed to travel.  Of course, I found myself chatting with co-workers as the time ticked on and I was delayed even more.  On the road, it wasn’t long before I found myself in slow moving traffic. Coming up on the Lee Street exit on 85/40, there was a tractor trailer at a dead stop in the right-hand lane. As I came up on it, my left ring and pinky fingers began to tingle. Once next to it, I saw there was car wreckage underneath it. By now, my fingers are really tingling. I realized that if I had left when I originally darted out the door, it could have been me under that truck bed. I promptly acknowledged this communication and thanked my angels for keeping me safe.

I started a book club this month reading Sonia Choquette’s Ask Your Guides.  While I have always believed in angels, she has given me an opportunity using the Cube of Space Ritual every morning (it’s a guided meditation I put on when my first alarm goes off) to truly work with the archangels and begin a much deeper relationship with them.  I’m just a few days in but the changes in spirit are already noticeable.  Our second meeting is this Thursday.  We meet bi-weekly.  If you’d like to join us, read or listen through Chapter 6, and sign up HERE.  Or contact me for more information at laurie@lauriemendenhall.com.

Have you ever had an experience that you can’t explain? Do you feel there was divine intervention? I’d love to hear about it. In my recent work with clients, I’ve found a simple reading goes a long way to help confirm you’re on the right path and introduce you to your own divine guidance. A series of mentoring sessions with me to get on track can also help. Both types of sessions allow me to bring my gifts forward to work with you during our time together.

If you’d like to work with me, I work by appointment. I also offer Distance Reiki. Energy work is one you have to experience to understand it’s power to heal. Reach out to me and we will set up time for you to begin moving in the right direction.
