The August Newsletter went out a week ago and things have been busy in and out of the studio.
We are one full week into August and boy, do I have a busy month ahead.
The Caboose is off to his Senior Year of college. I can’t believe our kind kid is now a man preparing to really fly the nest.
Our Sabine is home from the ICU/ER Vet after a couple of seizures. She’ll have her best life here until it’s not good for her anymore, but for now, doggie snuggles and cuddles are all that’s happening around her. Ahsoka is confused about her sister’s condition, but we will all get back to normal soon. And Sabine is back snoozing at my feet while I type. Also, yes, for those wondering….our dogs are named after strong women in Star Wars.
I’ve just revamped the entire website and I’m STILL tweaking it.
I have commissions on the table, which is a great thing for me. I love painting my own work, but commissions let me know what I’m doing makes others smile as well. It’s always the tortoise over here, but if I rushed it, you wouldn’t like it. That said, many of my commission have been completed.
Monday Night’s at Connie’s
Join me (and some other fun people) Monday nights in Greensboro in Connie Logan’s Studio learning and practicing our skills oil painting! Connie is an amazing Monet-influenced oil painter and you can find her large works at several galleries, but locally at the Grandover gallery (or by appointment). She’s been helping me hone my skills and find my style in Oils. And while I still have a love for architecture, I also love painting the coast in an impressionist style full of sun rise and sunset yellows, blues, greens and oranges. My latest piece, Sunset Slush Fun, is about halfway complete. I really love the way these pieces turn out and it’s quickly becoming my signature style.

August is always a busy month. Our college senior is headed back to school this week for RA training. I can’t believe he’s a senior, but we at least know he’s going to spend another year at graduate school. For me, I’ve got another art installation at the High Point Public Library as the Artist of the Month.
Beginning Tuesday, August 4th, stop by the High Point Public Library and see my latest Oil Paintings, as well as some of my favorite watercolors and acrylic pieces. Some of those pieces are available for sale, too!

ACEOs – Art for Everyone!
ACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions, and Originals. These are highly collectible, pocket-sized pieces of art that must measure exactly 2.5 by 3.5 inches (64 by 89 mm)—the exact size of a standard trading or baseball card. My jerseys were a huge hit, I’m working on a few new designs I will have on hand for sale ($5 each) at the Library Meet and Greet on August 29th.
Hot Pocket Print Club
If you’re one of my print collectors, you’re going to want to know about this! I am working on the fall 2026 launch date for the Hot Pocket Snail Mail Print Club. The first edition of print club will be focused on nostalgia of all things GenX. Founding members will be able to join (once everything is set up and ready to go) for a discounted price for the first year.
FAQ’s:
- What’s a Print Club? It’s a monthly mailing of a 4 x 6 print or postcard, and may include other fun things like stickers, and bookmarks, magnets, mini-coloring page, and a monthly note from me all about the month’s theme.
- Do I have to join monthly or can I order the print club of the month? Well, for now, you’ve got to join. You can cancel at any time but print club merch is non-refundable. Month-to-month will be a set price and you’ll be charged the same day each month.
- How can I get a discount? Founding Members will receive a discount for joining for the year. In essence, you’ll also be my test case people. I may ask you for honest feedback about the service, what you might like to see in the future mailings, and in general if it’s a fun collection. Note, you’ll pay in full for the year when you sign up.
- How much? Most print clubs cost $10 – $20 a month, depending on what’s being offered and whether it can be mailed as snail mail or shipped in a box. I haven’t decided how it’s going to look just yet, but make sure you’re on the mailing list so you’ll know.
- Does the price include shipping? Yes. Most Snail Mail clubs ship with stamps and it arrives as a regular piece of mail. It should be cost effective for everyone and be a simple and easy way for everyone to collect art!

Disney Prints
Several years ago, I painted some of the locations around Walt Disney World. We were spending half our time in Florida and as we all know, I love painting buildings. I decided then to paint some of the iconic locations. Well, I have a VERY LIMITED amount of prints available. They are all $10 with $2 shipping per piece–shipping capped at $5. All of the watercolor originals are available in my etsy shop (except Pecos Bills–it sold).

FAQ on Commissions
I love my commission work, but what I currently accept is very specific….homes, interiors, universities, pets, floral, and landscapes. If you reach out, you’ll need to be prepared to provide me with what I am requesting from you, including where you’ve seen my work (be specific if online), artwork size needed, medium (watercolor, oil, acrylic), shipping location (complete address). At this time, I do not ship outside the US.
When I do have original works to sell, they are usually found in a local gallery. I post original work online on my website, Facebook Page and in my Etsy shop. I NEVER email photos. In this day and age of stolen art work, this is not unheard of so please don’t ask for emailed photos.
Final Thoughts
It’s been a while since I was so invested in growing my artwork as an artist and a business. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun. I’m finding my love of daily painting and squeaking out the time to do just that. My goal has always been that my art is for every day living.
