First of all. I haven’t been completely MIA. For the most part, I’ve been working…..and travelling…..but mostly working. Second of all, I had a social media post that may have led you to believe (if you saw it) that I left Ralph Lauren. I did not. I love working at Ralph Lauren. I love my co-workers and friends and I love what I do. You see, back in June, I decided to take a leap of faith and apply for a new job role available at Ralph’s. (I work at Ralph Lauren’s corporate DC operations in NC, for those of you not from ’round here). Something I have experience with but I haven’t worked in at RL in over 5 years. So yeah, it was a leap of faith. A bit scary to get out of my comfort zone. Yet, when the news finally trickled down to me that I was the one, I was excited about doing something kind-of new. And today, I’ll tell you it seems completely new….but I am learning something new every day and it will all click eventually.

Changing jobs certainly doesn’t seem like a big deal. And in reality, it’s not. I’ve done it two other times before at RL. Each time wanting to learn more and grow my knowledge. I love to learn a business from the ground up. The funny thing about a major fashion house is there are several different ways of starting from the ground up. Mine ground floor was call center. That training gave me exactly what I needed to be perfect for the role I have now.

This change has taken up a lot of my time and when I am not working, I am mentally exhausted. All I want to do is to lay on my sofa and watch mindless television (or as it’s known in my house….constantly watching reruns of The Goldbergs and Big Bang). I’ve been so tired that I haven’t had a lot of time for painting, but I’m getting back to my normal.

I have three commissions from three very patient friends. One is now delivered and I am thrilled with how it turned out. And it’s an old piece of history in my home town that brought back lots of memories for many, but especially for the recipient of such a gift.

So, in the next week or so, I hope to be back to creating and back to writing more. My hiatus has been long enough and I need the creative juices to keep flowing to keep me sane. And don’t worry, I’ll be back to Walt Disney World soon, too. It’s all about life balance.
