The Happiest Place on Earth

This time last month, we just returned from our first ever trip to Disneyland and I had NO idea what it would be like or if I would even like it compared to Walt Disney World. We were finally making the journey across country (something I had NEVER done) for Naren to Run Disney at Disneyland for the coveted Coast to Coast medal.

Our trip out was easy. We were late leaving out of North Carolina due to a fuel sensor, but we made it to Dallas and were able to reschedule our connection easily from the app to prevent further delays. Arriving in Ontario, California, instead of SNA but happy to be on the ground in Southern California. Which, by the way, is BEAUTIFUL! Though it was quite cold (KTLA used the word frigid, but I laughed knowing it was not frigid), but no rain and that is always a bonus.

So where do I begin? The parks! We ventured to Disneyland, a quick 15 minute walk from our hotel, our first afternoon and got to ride almost EVERYTHING. We had never used Genie+, but found it to be very easy and useful at DL (Disneyland) and DCA (Disney’s California Adventure). The very first thing that’s noticeable is how SMALL Sleeping Beauty’s Castle is…it’s tiny. And good thing, because this park packs a lot of punch in a very small area. The airspace in the pic below would be filled in with Cinderella’s castle at Magic Kingdom. One thing of note here is that you can go up in this castle and read Aurora’s (Sleeping Beauty) story. Which is pretty cool.

Our 5 days went by quick, but yet never seemed too fast. With Naren participating in the RunDisney events, it allowed us to maintain our East Coast time. Meaning, we were up at 3am (6 am EST) and honestly, in bed by 6pm (9 pm EST). Totally maintaining our body’s circadian rhythm. It was perfect!

We had an amazing time. Naren had three great runs and we vowed one thing….

WE WILL BE BACK!
