I have always  been under the notion that the busier I am, the more I get done. When I’m not busy, I don’t want to do anything.  I have had a very busy October.  Commissions from September are still sitting on my table half completed and I have very little new work.  I have been busy.  Not with art work, but busy in general.  The 14 year-old and 20 year-old’s birthdays.  Showhouse.  My new haircut.  Hurricane Michael.  Losing Power. Working Furniture Market.  Showhouse.  Drunk Tennis for my youngest sister’s birthday.  Tennis elbow as a result that is STILL bothering me.  Showhouse.  Work Team Cookout at the boss’s house. Showhouse.  Preparing for the Run Disney Wine and Dine Half.  That’s covered every weekend this month.

I’ve had very little studio time.  I’ve spent a little time playing with Christmas ornaments and coming up with some new and fun items to add to my shop.  Requests are always welcome when I have the supplies.  I’m even chatting with a friend with a local shop about having an ornament class.  If you are local and interested, please let me know.

I finally sat down last week and started a Sharpie doodle series just to get myself back to my work table.  I have always loved doors.  When I was 14, I was lucky enough to go to Ireland with my parents and brother.  Back in the 80’s, it was big to take an overseas trip with your travel soccer team.  I got lucky enough to go.  What a great experience and beautiful country.  As I’m typing, I am feeling inspired to illustrate some of that trip after the holidays.  Ah, but I digress.  My point was that in Ireland, they have beautiful doors.  I think in most of Europe they have these amazing doorways.  Since that trip, I’ve always noticed doors.  I even have Pinterest board devoted to doorways.

November begins with vacation but upon my return, it’s ON to get all commissions completed before Thanksgiving.  Then I will start preparing all the other works I’ve been dabbling with for an art show in the spring.  Get ready!
