In an effort to keep myself working creatively and being accountable to my work, I present to you….What I’m Working On. A weekly post sharing what I have been working on in the studio. I hope to provide new works and, possibly, some videos (yes, I said videos) to keep myself on track and to ensure I’m taking my art practice seriously.
For the last few months, I have been working on my marker illustrations. I’m not where I want to be as an illustrator by any stretch. Am I better than I was? Yes. I am finding my love of illustration growing every day. Last month was all about food. It was fun and challenging to create good looking food with markers. While I continue to work on my watercolors, I am continually drawn to illustrations and the fun of drawing.
My watercolor work has been focused on historic preservation, homes, and a few gifts for close friends. The iconic Shell Station in Winston-Salem, NC is headed to a fundraiser for the arts. I’m partnering with a fabulous artist in Winston to provide a piece for this event. It was certainly a lot of fun to paint and I am excited to share it with you here.
So, what’s next? I have a lot of ideas swirling in my head, but my primary goal is to complete my first piece for the TAG auction in May. I have a few ideas, but I haven’t completely thought out my process. I hope to do an abstract and maybe a watercolor. This is my favorite event of the spring and I am looking forward to participating this year as an artist!
As for my daily practice, I am working on different ideas in Illustration. I can see expanding on this concept art of my niece and nephews. Maybe branching out a little more as the ideas come together.
I can’t wait to see what I have ready for next week!!
