We are heading home today after a fabulous trip to Walt Disney World for the Star Wars Half Marathon weekend. If you don’t know, I’m a Star Wars geek. Like, my 10 year old nephew has said to me, “I think you like it too much.” And that made me laugh. He is probably right, but I love it. And I especially love the 1970s version best, but hey, I was kid back then.
This past weekend, I ran the 10K and the Half Marathon. I was dressed up for both. Hell, half the fun is figuring out your costume and then having your own personal costume designer pull the vision together.

I think our Half Marathon costumes were the best yet. R2D2 and the Hologram Princess Leia. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my Ahsoka Tano outfit for the 10K, but Hologram Leia….genius. I’ve never seen anyone else do it! And that, my friends, is what we always go for here. Originality.

This was my third Star Wars run and my best yet. The first one was my first 10K ever. The second one was my first Half marathon ever (think meltdown at mile 6). This year was my first challenge Star Wars weekend. I have two other challenge weekends under my belt, so this one was easy. I’m a run-walker but I also like to stop for pictures and look at everyone’s costumes. I mean this is what it’s all about. It is NOT about getting a PR.

We had fun and that’s all matters. If you’ve been thinking about running Disney, I highly recommend it. We have a great Disney travel agent, Cody Woodbrey, of Woodbrey Family Travel.
