Back in August, I was in a group coaching container that met on a Saturday morning. I mentioned that I wasn’t sure why I always seemed to flourish most in the months of July, August, and September. My friend, Monica, had some insight to offer and it was certainly something I had NEVER considered.
If you look at your life from the perspective of Mother Earth, all the work we do to sow seeds in the late winter and early spring, of course the harvest is going to come in the summer. Like tomatoes and squash!

Winter is the time of year when the days are shortest…meaning they have the least light. This is a time of rest. A time to rest and restore. A time to dream and plant seeds of manifesting. This is when we typically begin to look at creating our visions boards for the year. I recently realized that I have created a vision board every year, but what I really need is a bigger vision (life goals) and then a vision board with baby steps.
It’s a good time to check-in on ourselves. It’s a good time for self-care and a rest. It’s a good time to look back at the last 12 months and see our progress. Whether you feel like you’ve made forward movement or not, I am willing to bet, you have!
My favorite way to rest and reset are daily art creation, meditation, yoga, massage, and reiki. And honestly, these are the things I have managed to add to my life every week. Years ago, I would have thought I could never do ALL of these things at once—well, not all at the same time. I have learned that I can be many things at once and not have to pick one.

I am not just an artist or just a Reiki Master or just a yogi, I am working to pull all of these things together. I am finding that each one builds on the other. Getting quiet on the massage/reiki table allows me to let go of emotions that are no longer serving me. Getting in movement on the yoga mat also allows my body to jostle the stagnant energies clinging to the body that is not longer necessary. Moving these energies, acknowledging them, and letting them go allows me to be more creative.

These different modalities are allowing me to process old emotions, move through them, and grow. Since I was in my 20s, I have always felt that I needed to grow, learn, and become a better person with every lesson. While the idea seems simple enough, it’s not always simple. As I am growing my Reiki practice, I am learning more and more things about myself. This includes random intuitive hits, weird feelings, knowingness, and a spiritual growth far greater than I imagined.
What are you doing to rest, let go, and grow?
Did you know that I not only offer Reiki in person, but also Distance Reiki. Reiki is not bound by time or space and distance reiki has proven to be just as effective at a distance, as well as in person.
